In May 2023, I took a solo trip to visit Lake Atitlan, as time to recharge and reconnect with myself. I booked my stay at a beautiful eco-conscious boutique hotel in a quiet corner of the lake. I discovered that this place was also a yoga retreat center! I knew I had to come back to share the peace and magic of Lake Atitlan with others.

About Lake Atitlan:

Lake Atitlan is an incredible crater lake located in south-east Guatemala. It’s huge (about 50 square miles) with it’s greatest depth over 1,100 feet! The view from the lake is stunning— surrounded by grand volcanoes and Mayan villages. It’s the perfect place to unplug and explore.

Lake Atitlan also boasts a great climate for yoga classes and outdoor adventures. In March, daytime highs average 75 - 80 degrees. Evenings are cooler, with temperatures in the low 60s to high 50s. At a mile high in altitude, the days are warm for swimming and exploring, and the nights are cool to bundle up and relax in the sauna or hot tub.

6 days / 5 nights in Guatemala, including:

  • 1 night's lodging, dinner and breakfast in the historical city of Antigua (a UNESCO World Heritage Site)

  • 5 days / 4 nights at Isla Verde, resort located on Lake Atitlan

    • Daily yoga classes with Lara

    • 3 locally sourced meals daily. Unlimited tea, coffee and filtered water.

    • Lakeside hot tub and sauna

Guided tours to explore nature and Mayan culture:

  • Visit to Cerro Tzankujil Nature Reserve: Enjoy panoramic views of the lake and volcanoes, lounge and swim, and cliff jumping (if adventure is calling your name!)

  • Cultural boat tour with stops to neighboring lakeside towns. Learn about Mayan culture, spiritual beliefs, traditional weaving, cacao, and more!

  • These activities are included, but not mandatory.

Round-trip transfers to and from Guatemala City (GUA airport) are included.

  • Included group transportation scheduling may result in lengthy waits at the airport. You will have the option to book private transfers to work with your specific travel itinerary. Individuals will be liable for the cost of their separate transportation bookings. Private transportation fees are noted below.

You are responsible for these costs (outside of retreat price):

  • Roundtrip airfare to GUA (Guatemala City airport). Roundtrip airfare from LAX is around $300.

  • Optional massages, which can be booked directly upon arrival at the resort.

  • Alcoholic beverages & specialty drinks (such as smoothies or juices not included with meals.)

  • Other optional excursions and personal expenses (ex: paddle boarding, kayaking, trips to neighboring lake towns, additional meals and snacks, etc.)
