“If we never experience the chill of a dark winter, it is very unlikely that we will ever cherish the warmth of a bright summer’s day. Nothing stimulates our appetite for the simple joys of life more than the starvation caused by sadness or desperation. In order to complete our amazing life journey successfully, it is vital that we turn each and every dark tear into a pearl of wisdom, and find the blessing in every curse.”

Happy March!

The other day when it was raining non-stop, I was really affected by the feeling of being stuck at home and somewhat isolated. Maybe you can relate, or can recall a time you may have felt similar. It made me want to be outside and spend time with people I care about.

As the weather cleared up, I made plans to meet up with friends, and was able to go on my usual long walks with my puppy. Laughing at a coffee shop with a friend, feeling sunshine on my face— Although none of it was anything out of the ordinary, I felt extra grateful for it all!

Sometimes it’s the duality of life and experience that makes us more appreciative of what we have. We can feel joy more fully after a period of sadness. We find more value for our free time after a period of being very busy. Although we don’t have to be awakened to gratitude through extremes, these are often the reminders we receive in life to be grateful through the full spectrum of experience.

In our yoga practice as well, we explore many dualities— effort and ease, movement and stillness, action and rest. Through all of it, we work to keep present with breath and balance.

This month, we have awesome classes and workshops coming up. I encourage you to have fun and try something new! I’m also very excited to announce we will be hosting a 200-Hour Teacher Training later this year - see details below :)

Take care and stay healthy!

With Love + Gratitude,

<3 Lara
