“I think our capacity for wholeheartedness can never be greater than our willingness to be broken-hearted. It means engaging with the world from a place of vulnerability and worthiness.”
~ Brene Brown

I am sharing with you a personal message this month. A couple of weeks ago, I unfortunately experienced a pregnancy loss. I was almost 21 weeks pregnant. Some of you knew about my pregnancy, some of you likely suspected it with my growing belly, and some had no idea. I know that a number of people read this newsletter although they haven’t been to the studio or seen me in some time.

I’m sure some of you may have been curious and concerned about why I haven’t been at the studio the past few weeks. It’s been a time of grief and stepping away to heal. Through the difficulty of all of it, we have felt so much love and support from family, friends, and community.

Many have reached out to us with kindness and sympathy, asking if there’s anything they can do to help. I am not a particularly religious person, but I do believe in the power of prayer. If you can pray for my family and I around the past, present, and future of this loss, we would appreciate it.

I have written a little bit more in detail around what happened, as a therapeutic way of remembering and releasing, which you can read here if you’d like. My doctor and care team have regarded the events around this loss as a stroke of bad luck, as everything with me and the baby had been going well. I’m glad to be feeling physically fine and healthy, although emotionally still going through waves of sadness.

I’m grateful for all the teachers who have stepped in to cover my classes in the past few weeks, and to everyone who has reached out to check on how we are doing. I’ll ease into teaching next week, and hope to see you soon at the studio!

With Love + Gratitude,

<3 Lara
