“We are not our bodies, our possessions, our careers. Who we are is divine love, and that is infinite.” —Dr. Wayne Dyer

Welcome to September! Hope you had some time to relax over the holiday weekend.

As we’re getting ready to start teacher training this weekend, I’ve been reviewing my old notes from the first yoga training I attended, sixteen years ago. Out of all my belongings, it’s funny to me that some of my most valued possessions are my old notebooks! I’ve gone through them in times of needing inspiration or clarity. I’ve used them for reference in all the trainings I’ve led.

These handwritten notes contain my personal summaries and translation of the yoga sutras, the foundational texts of yoga. I came across one of my favorites, yoga sutra 16 from book 2: “Pain that has not yet come is avoidable.” Pain and suffering is rooted in overly identifying with the material world, and not being able to distinguish between what is real and unreal, what is permanent and impermanent.

In every moment, we have a chance to make conscious choices, discerning what is true and worthwhile of our time and energy in this life. Prioritizing the eternal nature of love, consciousness, kindness, connection, and humanity can help light our path towards enlightenment.

This month, we have great classes every day and a few “Self-care Sundays” lined up— starting with a Pisces Full Moon Circle this Sunday, and two sound baths later in the month with Fawntice and Tiffany. Come to beach yoga on Wednesdays 6:00pm, as we are ending these beautiful outdoor sessions at the end of this month. Hope to see you soon at the studio!

With Love & Gratitude,
<3 Lara
